Remember being 12 years old and begging your parents to take you
To the (highly over-priced) Rainforest Cafe? Those semi-terrifying life like jungle animals made the mediocre 17 dollar hamburger and fries worth every penny. This was your childhood nostalgia.
Well, believe it or not Banana Republic used to be the same way. Back in the day, the now modernized department store was designed to make you feel like you were on a safari walking through the jungle. From the old-school, off road Jeeps in the window display to old safari artifacts scattered amongst the store, Banana Republic created that same nostalgic experience Rainforest Cafe does, except without the overpriced hamburgers.
My mission is to bring back that experience that so many people enjoyed when shopping at Banana Republic. I’m not saying we have to bring back cargo pants, but let’s bring back that safari experience and allow our customers to walk through the jungle while they shop, this time only virtually.
Not only will they be immersed in a virtual reality but a percentage of their purchase will be donated to the World Wildlife Foundation to help save the actual jungle. Doing good while treating your self with that new sophisticated blazer? Sign me up.
